科技语篇中的隐喻研究

近年来，随着科学技术的迅猛发展，科技语篇在人们的日常生活特别是科研活动中占据着越来越重要的位置。而英文科技语篇，由于其语言的国际通用性，更受到人们的广泛关注。可以说只有充分理解英文科技语篇的写作特点，才能真正地融入国际科学技术的发展之中。在逻辑实证主义的影响下，人们普遍认为科技语篇是以“白描式”的语言来记述科学发现的，很少有人会将科技语篇与隐喻联系起来。然而，当代隐喻理论一改传统认识，不再把隐喻看作附属于语言的一种比喻方式，而是把它看作人类认知世界的工具和重塑人类经验的过程。本文正是借鉴隐喻理论，对科技英语这种语体中的隐喻现象进行了一次较为全面地探讨。科技英语中隐喻的使用可分为两个层面。首先是词汇层面，称其为词汇隐喻。词汇隐喻一直是从亚里士多德以来隐喻研究的重点。1980年Lakoff＆Johnson合著的Metaphor We Live By(我们赖以生存的隐喻)一书的发表，标志着认知观词汇隐喻研究的全面开始。科技英语的词汇隐喻在很大程度上是名词性隐喻，就是借助我们所熟悉的，具体的，己知的日常事物去认知我们所陌生的，抽象的，未知的科技事物。除名词性隐语以外，科技英语中还存在有动词性，形容词性，介词性以及副词性隐喻。这些隐喻在科技英语中的使用均体现了隐喻的认知功能。正是借助其某种相似性，通过隐喻建立起科技概念与日常经验间的联系，人类来认知科技事物乃至整个世界。这些建立在相似性基础上的隐喻统称为“以相似性为基础的隐喻”。还有一类隐语通过创造科学概念与日常经验间的某种相似性，从而使人们获得对此科学概念的认识，此类隐喻称为“创造相似性隐喻”。创造相似性隐喻反映了人类能动的认知新事物的过程，具有更强的认知力。另一层面上是语法词汇层面，被语言学家称为语法隐语。语法隐喻是语言表达形式上的隐喻化，尽管常伴随有词汇意义的转变，然而实质上是语法功能的变化，反映了重组人类经验的过程。语法隐喻的提出，不仅在理论上弥补了隐喻研究只停留在词汇层面的不足，并且通过语法功能的隐喻化使科技英语保留了精确，客观，简洁的文体特征。从词汇，语法这两个层面的分析中，我们不仅能看到科技英语中隐喻使用的全貌，而且也看到了词汇隐喻与语法隐喻在科技英语中的完美结合——表达内容的多姿多彩于表达形式的简洁，客观。
