动词ing形式的认知研究

跟其他语法成分相比,语言学家和语法学家们并没有过多地关注动词ing形式。然而,对于动词ing形式的理解,也有语法学家和语言学家还在进行深入地探讨,他们试图找出更科学的方法来定义动词的ing形式。传统上来讲,语法学家和语言学家的研究主要集中在对动词ing形式句法功能的研究上。但是,通过对已有研究的认真分析,我们发现,在现阶段,对动词ing形式的研究仍然存在着一些问题,比如说,我们到底应该如何定义,它与其他语法成分有什么关系,等等。长期以来,对动词ing形式的定义这一问题,我们并没有能在英语研究相关领域找出领人满意的完整的答案,但我们并不能止步于此。本文基于认知语言学中的原型理论来分析动词ing形式。本文作者通过将动词ing形式与其他语法范畴(名词、动词、和形容词等)进行比较分析,认为传统上的仅仅按动词ing形式的句法功能来给它下定义是不完整的。按认知语言学的分析得出的结论来看,本文认为,动词ing形式实际上具有许多个语法范畴所具有的特点,它是许多个语法范畴的边缘成员的一个集合体。本文作者认为,该分析方法可以为对于动词ing形式的理解提供一个更为完整,更能被人接受的途经。通过本文的分析,本文作者认为,动词的ing形式是一个比较难以界定的语法成分。从原型理论的分析来看,动词ing形式本身并不是一个孤立的语法范畴,实际上,它是一个集合体。在这个集合体中,包括了名词、动词、形容词、介词等语法范畴的边缘成分,它与各个语法范畴的原型都具有一定的相似点。在此基础上,本文简要地提出了此分析方法对英语教学可能起到的作用,同时,也认识到此分析方法可能存在的一些待解决的问题,并认为此种分析方法需要进一步的研究。
