从顺应论看小说对话翻译 ——以《傲慢与偏见》的中译本为个案研究

论文摘要

对话是小说中很重要的一部分,是显示人物性格特点和内心世界的一种重要手段,是小说中不可缺少的一部分。在翻译小说时,必须注重对话翻译。语用学是语言学领域中一个新的分支,因为这一学科所研究的是实际使用中的语言以及语言与语言使用者之间的关系,所以它已跨域出传统的语言学理论框架,开始对语言进行动态的,同时也是更有实际价值的研究。本文以维索尔伦的“顺应论”为理论基础探讨小说对话的翻译,把语用学引入翻译领域,用语用学的理论来指导翻译,试图为小说对话翻译提供一种新的视角。维索尔伦的“顺应论”认为语言使用是为实现交际目的而连续不断进行选择的一个过程。在语言运用的过程中,语境是一个非常重要的因素。语言使用者之所以能做出种种选择,是源于语言的三个特性:变异性、商讨性和顺应性。顺应性是语言使用过程的核心,任何语言的使用都要根据环境做出动态顺应。通过对顺应理论的分析和描述,全文主要讨论了该方法的运用,显示了其合理性和可操作性并同时揭示了其对小说对话翻译的重要意义。本文首先剖析了小说对话的特点、功能并对其研究现状作了分析,指出尽管小说对话很重要,但是到目前为止在这方面的研究却不多,且存在不足之处。本文提出将语境顺应理论应用于小说对话翻译中,具体研究维索尔伦的交际语境中的非语言语境在小说对话翻译中的应用。在此基础上,详细地介绍了顺应理论并从非语言语境即物理世界,社会世界,心理世界三个方面详细地分析它在小说对话中的应用。最后通过对《傲慢与偏见》中对话的分析,得出结论。总之顺应理论对小说对话翻译起着相当重要的指导作用。将顺应理论应用于小说对话翻译,可为小说对话翻译研究提供一种新的思路,使翻译研究迈向更广阔的空间。
