功能翻译理论视角下中国特色语词的翻译 ——以“不折腾”的英译为例

论文摘要

本文从功能翻译理论的视角出发,以“不折腾”的英译纷争为切入点,探讨了中国特色语词的特征及其翻译策略和方法。首先,综述了功能翻译理论是以目的法则为主导的翻译标准多元化的理论体系及其对中国特色语词翻译的解释力,即翻译目的、文本功能和发起者的要求决定了具体的翻译策略和方法。译文应充分体现翻译的目的性、交际性和跨文化性的多维准则而最终实现跨文化交际。其次,以功能翻译理论为指导,就中国特色语词翻译的重要性和普遍存在的问题,进行了文化交际、翻译策略和翻译方法等方面的案例分析和梳理。通过对中国特色语词的分类、定义,探讨了其可译性与可译性限度,并论证了翻译中常用的五种翻译方法对中国特色语词的翻译效度。最后,通过分析“不折腾”的英译策略与方法,总结归纳了翻译中国特色语词的基本原则和标准,提出了译者应根据具体的文本及实际的翻译目的选择最能体现及保留中国特色文化的翻译策略和方法。本文一方面以实例佐证了功能主义翻译理论对指导中国特色语词翻译与翻译研究的理论意义与实用价值,另一方面为中国特色语词英译研究提供一个新的视角,即怎样才能实现中国特色语词使用者的期盼,如何满足译文接受者的阅读期待。
