从合作原则看《哈克贝利·费恩历险记》中的言语幽默及翻译

论文摘要

本文拟从合作原则视角出发,以马克·吐温的《哈克贝利·费恩历险记》的原文本和张万里的译本为例,探索言语幽默的产生及其翻译问题。合作原则是美国学者格莱斯首先提出用于规范话语交际中交际双方语言行为的原则。该原则还包含四个准则,即数量准则,质量准则,关系准则以及方式准则。这些准则明确规定了人们在交流中应该传达的信息内容以及以何种方式传递信息。根据格莱斯的观点,只有遵循合作原则及其准则,才能取得最有效的交际效果。而言语幽默常常是违背了合作原则的某个原则,产生了会话含义,从而制造了夸张、自嘲、讽刺、搞笑等幽默效果。因此,本文首先从违反合作原则的四个准则来分析《哈克贝利·费恩历险记》中言语幽默的产生机制。其次,本文认为合作原则及其四个准则同样可以用来指导幽默翻译。在幽默翻译中,译者可将翻译看成是在原文作者、译者和译语读者之间依次进行的会话循环,在这一循环中译者通过译本搭建起一座文化交际的桥梁,实现译文读者与原文作者的成功会话。另外,译者还应遵守合作原则应用于幽默翻译的四个准则,即质量准则:忠实传达原文信息,同时尽量准确再现原文幽默效果;数量准则:避免减少对原文必要信息的传达以及丢失幽默效果;关联准则:在翻译中将原文作为一个有机整体,使译文更加连贯、通顺;方式准则:避免晦涩不清,尽量使译文符合逻辑,更加明确地传递原文的幽默效果。因此,本文的第二个中心内容即以张万里的译本为例,从合作原则的角度探讨了译者在幽默翻译过程中应当如何遵守合作原则的四准则来传递原作的意蕴从而再现原文的幽默效果。最后,通过本文的研究分析证明,合作原则确实为言语幽默的产生和翻译研究提供了一个新视角。
