隐喻视角下的语篇连贯研究 ——以《围城》为例

对隐喻理论的阐释己从传统的修辞学范畴转移至语言与认知领域。作为当代认知语言学乃至功能语言学的重要命题之一,隐喻在分析词汇层和语法层的语言现象中发挥了重要作用。然而,针对语篇层面的隐喻分析目前尚未形成一个系统的、相对独立的研究体系。本文作者以概念整合理论为理论基础,结合语篇分析的成果研究了隐喻的语篇组织功能,探讨了隐喻如何通过两大工作机制(映射和映合)促成了语篇的连贯。钱钟书的《围城》以丰富多彩的隐喻著称,为本研究提供了充足的语料。作者对这部文学作品中隐喻的连贯功能有了一些主要发现。首先,从认知的意义上讲,语篇连贯源于以语篇中的某些语言成分所激活的概念来系统地阐释或反映其他被激活的相关概念。这一过程主要是通过映射机制实现的。语篇中的隐喻映射并非杂乱无章,而是遵循一定的方式进行,主要包括始源域和目标域直接的“匹配”、隐喻的“派生”以及由一个或多个隐喻引发的“蕴涵”等三种情形。其次,一个连贯的隐喻性语篇还是概念之间相互“映合”的产物。不同的概念域经过“选择”,“抽象”和“融合”等一系列的认知操作之后在语篇中产生了“合成空间”,该空间可以构成一个完整的意象图式,并且能够按照自身的概念逻辑在语篇中进一步发展。此外,对隐喻的分析绝不能脱离“百科知识”和“社会文化模式”的认知语境。本文把作为认知语言学支柱理论之一的隐喻理论同以功能语言学为主要理论依据的语篇连贯问题结合起来,从某种意义上为认知语言学与功能语言学的互补性研究提供了一个值得参考的切入点。由于隐喻不但能促成语篇而且给读者以生动感和新鲜感,本文从认知角度进一步提供了文学语篇中的隐喻例证,而大多数莱考夫和约翰逊的例子都来自日常表达。
