论文摘要: 在英语教学中，有关词汇教学方面的研究长期以来处于弱势地位。九十年代出现了对语料库的研究。由此也刺激了学者们对词汇教学的重视。研究集中在词汇量、词汇知识、和词汇教学策略方面。同时各种教材对词汇教学的各个侧面也有充分体现。 全文正文共三章。引言部分主要介绍了词汇的基本概念，考察了词汇教学长期以来被忽略，以及最近一段时期以来重获重视的原因。第二章解释了在英语教学中词汇与语法之间不可分割的关系。两者都应当受到重视，词汇教学应当达到对两者的统一。本章还探查了词汇教学的目的以及组成词汇教学的各个方面的内容。同时也比较详细的介绍了词汇教学的策略。第三章回顾了历史上和目前各种教学流派(包括语法翻译法、情景教学法、听说法、交际教学法)对词汇教学的不同重视及各自的处理方法。在第四章中，作者选择了代表上述各种教学流派的教材(许国璋先生的《英语》、L.G.亚历山大的《新概念英语》、《英语900句》、李筱菊教授的《交际英语教程》)，并分析了它们各自对词汇处理的方法。 基于以上的分析，作者也提出了一些不成熟的建议：(1) 词汇教学应当把交际(或应用)放在优先地位；(2) 英语教材应当包含词汇表，并应说明该词汇表中词汇选择的依据；(3) 充分重视英语词语搭配及词组的教学，特别是中国学生难以掌握的词汇；(4) 上下文原则始终应成为词汇教学的重要原则；(5) 应当分析学习者学习词汇的不同需求；(6) 词汇教学应成为一门专门课程。
