美国总统就职演说辞中的模糊限制语 ——一项基于语料库的研究

模糊现象普遍存在人类思维和自然语言中。近年来对模糊限制语的研究引起越来越多的关注。本研究选用历届美国总统演说辞为语料库,从语用学角度对这一融文学、政论乃至法律语篇等为一体的独特而实用的文体进行定量定性相结合的研究,挖掘模糊限制语在具体真实语境、特定文体中的运用和实现方式,拓展模糊限制语的研究视野。利用电脑软件AntConc3.2.0,在语料库中对最具影响力的Prince及其同事的语用分类下的模糊限制语词频和分布进行多角度统计,结合人工筛选,在实验基础上分析探讨模糊限制语在语料库中的语用功能和实现方式,得出如下结论:模糊限制语在历届总统演说中大量存在,其丰富的语用功能在诸多方面影响着演说效果,展现出重要语用意义。本研究语料库说明,模糊限制语在历届美国总统演说辞中体现出以下一些主要功能:自我保护、维护礼貌、维护形象、提高可信度、推卸责任等。本语料库还显示,直接缓和型模糊限制语占比最高,情态动词作为其成员也有突出呈现。
