性格特质和大学生英语成绩的相关性研究

论文摘要

近年来,性格特质对英语成绩的影响逐渐受到研究者的重视,但着重于性格三因素和英语成绩的相关性研究还为数不多。本文主要对性格三因素(精神质、内外倾、情绪性)与大学英语四级成绩的相关性进行研究。本研究在性格理论及性格特质理论的基础上,运用定量和定性研究相结合的方法,对来自湖北广播电视大学经济学专业的54名大学生的性格特质进行了研究,并分析了: (1)性格三因素与大学英语四级成绩之间是否存在相关?(2)每个因素中,分数处于不同水平(按分数高低,分为高、中、低三组)的学生的大学英语四级成绩之间是否存在显著差异?研究结果表明:(1)性格三因素中,外倾性特质与大学英语四级成绩之间呈显著负相关;(2)内外倾特质中,高、中、低三组学生的大学英语四级成绩之间存在显著差异。内向型学习者的英语成绩总体上明显高于外向型学习者的成绩。由此表明,内外倾特质在一定程度上是影响大学生英语学习成绩的重要因素。根据研究结果,作者建议英语教师应充分认识到不同学生的性格特点,针对学生不同的性格特质,采取相应的教学策略,以便达到较好的教学效果。同时,英语学习者要认识到任何性格都有其长处,要采用合适的学习方法,弥补自身性格的不足,同时使性格优势得到发挥。
