精致型复述在提高科技英语产出性词汇习得中的有效性研究

产出性词汇一直都是语言学家和应用语言学家关注的问题。但是,到目前为止,大多数关于产出性词汇的研究都是针对普通英语,鲜有研究专门针对特殊用途英语产出性词汇。Gregory Hadley （2000）的一项调查显示,大学里的ESP学习者通常只认识一些能读懂简单的ESP材料所需的基本ESP词汇,至于产出性的运用ESP词汇这一能力,则是他们的盲点。因此本文针对该现状,研究如何有效提高ESP产出性词汇。该研究提出了教授科技英语词汇的W-R方法,旨在帮助科技英语（特殊用途英语的一类）学习者提高科技英语产出性词汇能力。这一方法的提出,综合考虑现有的提高普通英语产出性词汇能力的理论以及普通英语产出性词汇习得和科技英语产出性词汇习得间的异同,其精髓在于将学生已有的在普通英语背景下的词汇知识和陌生的科技英语词汇联系起来,促进学生的科技英语词汇的产出性词汇习得,而这正是精致型复述这一理论的体现。本研究主要回答两个问题:基于精致型复述的W-R方法能否促进科技英语学习者科技英语词汇的产出性习得?基于精致性复述的W-R方法能否促进科技英语学习者科技英语词汇在产出性运用层面上的记忆?本研究按以下步骤进行。本研究历时三个月。对象是重庆工学院车辆专业的大三的八十三名学生。一班的四十三名学生是控制组,用语法翻译法教授,二班的四十名学生是实验组,用W-R方法教授。实验前,根据对已有的期末考试英语成绩进行分析,证明两组学生在英语水平和英语词汇水平方面相当,实验后,立即对学生进行了后测,实验结束两周后,进行了延后测,并对实验组的一些学生进行了非正式的访问。通过分析搜集到的数据和对实验对象的访问,作者得出以下结论:基于精致型复述的W-R方法能促进科技英语学习者科技英语词汇的产出性习得。基于精致型复述的W-R方法能促进科技英语学习者科技英语词汇在产出性运用层面上的记忆。
