中美媒体关于人民币升值问题新闻报道的批评性语篇分析

论文摘要

本文以为批评性语篇分析为理论框架,运用系统功能语法的分析工具,结合新闻事件发生的特定社会背景,分析中美权威报刊关于人民币升值问题的新闻报道,旨在透过表面的语言形式,揭示语言与意识形态之间的相互关系。多数学者注重运用批评性语篇分析这一理论框架对与政治语篇进行分析,而很少有人把这一理论应用于经济领域,即,关于经济类语篇的具体分析远远少于政治语篇。基于此,本文作者运用批评性语篇分析的分析工具如及物性分析、情态分析、互文性分析等对关于人民币升值问题的十二篇新闻报道进行了分析,以阐明语篇结构背后所隐藏的社会意识形态。本文的研究证实了之前批评性语篇分析研究的结论,即,新闻并非如其所标榜的公正客观,在看似中立的词汇和结构类型下隐藏了自然化的推断和暗示。通过分析我们发现尽管经济新闻一再标榜其客观透明,但是它不可避免的还会受到人们意识形态的影响。这又再一次证明了批评性语篇分析的观点,即:语言是一种社会实践,它必然受到意识形态的影响,另一方面,语言对意识形态的形成及强化也具有能动的反作用。论文通过对所选新闻报道的分析,得出以下结论,中方记者积极塑造一个与人为善、负责任的中国的形象,他们强调中国在处理人民币升值问题的独立立场。然而美方记者却试图强化人民币汇率被人为低估以及中国是汇率操纵国的误解,并以此为据,试图将美国施压人民币合理化。本研究的理论意义在于它扩展了批评性语篇分析的应用领域,提供分析经济类语篇的方法,即通过分析经济新闻语言的表层结构,揭示隐含在语言深层的意识形态,看这种意识形态如何为人们所运用。其实践意义是通过把批评性语篇分析引入到英语教学,以期提高英语学习者的批评阅读意识及敏感性。同时,本研究对于媒体工作者及国家政策制定者有一定启发作用。此外,本研究具有启示我们在面对新问题时,要结合特定的社会、经济、文化因素考虑、解决问题以及促进中美两国友好关系,增进相互理解的现实意义。
