职业学校英语词汇学习策略研究

论文摘要

词汇是语言的建筑材料和语言所负载之文化的“细胞”。近二十年,人们开始关注词汇策略,并在此领域取得了一定的成绩。许多相关研究旨在发现有效的学习策略和不同类型学习者的词汇学习策略。然而,针对于职业学校学生词汇学习策略使用情况的研究却很少。在词汇学习中,职业学校学生有着与高校学生和其它类型学生不同的学习观念和学习策略。因而,本研究试图进一步了解中国背景下职业学校学生词汇学习的总体情况和特点,以便给英语词汇教学以启示,同时提高教师策略培训的意识,提高学习者使用策略的意识。本次调查围绕O’Malley&Chamot的学习策略框架展开,将学习策略分为元认知策略、认知策略和社会与情感策略三个层次。本文通过对职业学校学生词汇学习观念及策略的调查,探究职业学校学生词汇学习观念及策略的总趋势,分析善学者与不善学者在这些策略的使用过程中是否存在差异,分析学习者词汇学习策略与词汇量之间的关系。本研究运用问卷调查、词汇量测试、访谈等手段对湘潭烟草学校104名学生进行了调查研究。调查数据输入电脑,借助于SPSS统计软件进行数据统计分析。调查结果表明:1)职业学校学生认同应该在上下文及运用中学习单词,但在实际运用中,他们又常使用死记硬背来记单词。2)中等职业学校学生在词汇学习过程中运用了一定的词汇学习策略,从元认知策略到认知策略到情感策略,元认知策略中“选择注意”使用最频繁。最为常用的几种认知策略依次排序为:死记硬背、记笔记、词典使用、翻译、上下文、猜测、使用、分组。在社会与情感策略中,学生更倾向于使用焦虑评价。3)善学者和不善学者两组语言学习者在许多策略的使用上表现出明显不同。善学者所用学习策略明显多于不善学者。差生多用死记硬背策略。4)大部分认知策略与词汇量测试成绩呈正相关,翻译策略与词汇量成绩呈负相关。最后,本文提出该研究对英语词汇教学的启示意义,提出了培养词汇学习策略的一些建议。英语教师应该更加重视策略培训,学习者策略培训应成为第二语言教育不可缺的一部分。
