高职院校学生元认知学习策略与英语自主学习能力的研究

自七十年代以来,语言学习策略的研究逐渐成为应用语言学的研究热点,相关方面的研究成果不断出现,这对外语教学的理论与实践产生了很大的影响。越来越多的外语教学者和教师将研究重点从教师“如何教”转移到学生“如何学”上并且逐步开始关注语言学习者学习策略以及自主学习等问题,提高学习自主性成为语言教学的重要目标之一。元认知策略作为一种较高层次的学习策略在语言学习中的重要作用逐渐被肯定,众多专家学者认为恰当的运用元认知策略有助于二语习得,它能够帮助学生减少学习活动中的盲目性、冲动性和不合理性,正确的元认知策略对学生的外语学习活动起到导向和调节作用（秦志强,2002）。而’Wenden （1987）也坚信学习策略尤其是元认知学习策略是培养学生学习自主的关键。近几年随着高职教育的发展,社会对于高职人才的需求不断增加,也对高职英语教学提出了新的目标和要求,如何提高教学效果,培养学生英语应用技能成为高职英语教学亟待解决的问题之一。作为一名多年从事高职英语教育的工作者,笔者对高职学生的特点和高职英语教学的方法与手段有一些思考和实践经历。因此本论文通过问卷调查了解武汉职业技术学院103名大一新生元认知策略的实际使用水平,在现有网络实践平台-语言自主学习中心基础上采集学生自主学习的数据和资料,对学生进行访谈和问答写作等研究方法了解他们对自主学习的态度和需求,旨在研究学生元认知学习策略对自主学习效果的影响,希望可以为探索高效教学、提高高职学生学习自主性的目标提供有益的尝试和借鉴。为了达到这个目的,本文首先回顾了元认知策略、学习自主性的相关文献和研究成果,以探讨两者之间的密切联系并为其后的讨论做好理论铺垫。研究结果显示,被试总体英语学习动力不强,学习兴趣不高,元认知策略使用频率不高,尤其是其中的评估策略使用较差,缺乏学习英语的信心,自主学习能力较弱,但是在对其中学习自主性较强学生的调查中发现,他们元认知学习策略的各方面使用频率教高,使用恰当。因此笔者认为元认知策略的成功使用对培养自主学习能力和提高英语学习绩效有着不可忽视的作用。
