从隐喻的和词汇学的视角探讨“V-ed”的多义性

许多现代英语语法学家都对英语动词的过去式进行了专题研究,但都未能就此达成一个统一的认识,他们仅仅指出“时态”是表示时间区别的语法范畴,其次便是分类,再次便是过去式的种种用法举例。然而动词过去式在许多的语用环境中都被用到,只用过去时间来解释,显然不够。 本文从隐喻的和词汇学的视角探讨“v-ed”的多义性。通过运用词汇学有关多义词意义繁衍过程的基本理论,尝试论证了动词过去式所表示的三种不同意义（即表示过去时间,表示与说话者的期待和看法相悖的情况和表示客气委婉的语气）之间的关系符合多义词意义繁衍过程的连锁性模式,繁衍的途径是概念的隐喻化。 除简短的引论和结语外,本文主体部分由以下四章组成: 第一章综述了夸克、道格拉斯、帕默、张振邦、张道真等国内外语法学家对动词过去式语法意义研究的观点,并对其观点进行了简评。 第二章阐述导致一词多义的常用隐喻,为我们探讨“v-ed”的多义性的提供理论依据。 第三章从词汇意义的分类、演化和多义词形成的模式等方面阐述了有关词汇意义的基本理论及其给我们的启示。 第四章从隐喻的和词汇学的视角探讨“v-ed”的多义性,对动词“v-ed”不同语法意义之间的关系进行了新的探索。 通过分析,本文得出结论:动词过去式的语法意义,从单纯表示过去时间（现在时刻与过去某一时点之间的距离）发展到表示与真实性间的距离,再到表示人们间亲疏关系的心理距离,这个过程实质上就是说英语的人们将其原来认识两点间距离的意象图式,投射到事物或事件的真假性语域,再投射到人们的认知心理域之上的过程;这个过程是连锁性的,它从一个侧面反映了人们以已知认知未知,从具体
